We look forward to offering Level S in the near future.
Level 1: Foundational Awareness
This certification is for individuals involved in the transportation and disposal of asbestos-containing waste. It covers the basics of asbestos safety, including transport and disposal procedures. This course is also recommended for those seeking general information and awareness surrounding asbestos work.
Level 2: Asbestos Safety
Designed for those conducting asbestos abatement work, Level 2 builds upon Level 1. It enables individuals to perform moderate and high risk asbestos abatement work. Core competencies include the ability to construct airtight containments, demonstrate required abatement procedures (eg. glove bag), handle hazardous waste, and utilize proper PPE.
Level 3: Asbestos Safety Leader
Level 3 is intended for supervisors and others responsible for health and safety at asbestos abatement worksites. It encompasses the Level 1 and Level 2 scope, as well as the ability to plan, oversee, and manage abatement sites. Core competencies include interpreting air monitoring results, developing safe work procedures, identifying all documentation required for the jobsite (eg. notice of project, hazmat survey, etc.), and lead abatement projects.
Level S: Surveyor Safety
For those performing asbestos surveys, Level S certification allows individuals to conduct assessments of asbestos-containing materials. Core competencies include knowledge of surveying processes and identifying asbestos-containing materials for the purposes of hazmat surveys. This level will effectively replace the AHERA Building Inspector certificate in British Columbia.
