Class begins at 9:00 am. 

This class is paramount if you're renovating and/or demolishing pre-1990 homes or other structures.  This 3-day class will cover:  
  • Background information on asbestos  
  • Potential health effects related to asbestos exposure  
  • Risk assessment process for asbestos  
  • Regulatory review    
  • Exposure control plan  
  • Personal protective equipment, including respirators  
  • Heat/cold stress  
  • Inspection and testing of equipment  
  • Notice of project  
  • Designating work areas, partial containments and full containments    
  • Air sampling and monitoring  
  • Handling emergencies  
  • Exam  
  • Certificate of course completion  

WorkSafe BC Requirements:

Part 6 Substance Specific Requirements  
The employer must ensure that a worker who is at risk of exposure to asbestos is adequately instructed and trained in 

  • the hazards of asbestos,
  • the means of identifying asbestos-containing material at the worksite,
  • the work procedures to be followed, 
  • the correct use of the required personal protective equipment, and operation of the required engineering controls, and
  • the purpose and significance of any required health monitoring.   
Class fees:  
$750 +GST 14-day pre-paid  ($200 deposit required at time of registration)
